Preview: St. Anthony Yellowjackets vs. TMI-Episcopal Panthers
The St. Anthony Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the TMI-Episcopal Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony will be strutting in after a win while TMI-Episcopal will be coming in after a loss.
St. Anthony put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They really took it to Providence Catholic for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-35 victory at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-17.
St. Anthony's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Laura Sierra, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks, and Lisette Vargas, who went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. Sierra is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Alejandra Vargas was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 18 assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, TMI-Episcopal's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Joseph Academy, falling 49-6. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points TMI-Episcopal has scored all season.
St. Anthony is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season. As for TMI-Episcopal, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for St. Anthony against TMI-Episcopal when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 54-13 win. Will St. Anthony repeat their success, or does TMI-Episcopal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
