Basketball Game Preview: Mohonasen Warriors vs. Troy Flying Horses

The Mohonasen Warriors will take on the Troy Flying Horses at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Mohonasen didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Cohoes, but they still walked away with a 53-49 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Troy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed past the Knights to the tune of 72-32. Given the Flying Horses' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Knights are ranked 634th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Troy pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for Mohonasen, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Mohonasen ended up a good deal behind Troy in their previous meeting back in January, losing 51-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Troy's Amaya Harris, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds.
