Softball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

Sparta was the 26-14 winner over Carlyle when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs lost 16-1 to the Indians/Lady Indians on Thursday. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sparta has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Carlyle, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will square off against Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carlyle, they will face off against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Orphans will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Indians/Lady Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
