Baseball Recap: Lowry Comes Up Short

Lowry fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dayton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Dust Devils. The Buckaroos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dust Devils earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Connor Peterson put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Erick Valencia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lowry's loss dropped their record down to 1-20-1. As for Dayton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dayton beat Lowry by a score of 9-2 on Tuesday.
