            Softball Preview: Branham Bruins vs. Gilroy Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            The Branham Bruins will take on the Gilroy Mustangs at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Both come into the  match bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Branham and Ann Sobrato meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again  on Friday. The Bruins walked away with  a   4-1  win over the Bulldogs.

 Jacque Connolly - Hojas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Sophia Jones, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Gilroy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-1  victory over Santa Teresa  on Friday. The  win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won six in a row.
Gilroy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Ariela Yslava gave up a  run (which was  unearned)  on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
 At the plate,  Averi Peters was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  she has  launched this season.
 Branham's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Gilroy, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
