New London dropped their record down to 12-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell 5-1 to the Wheeler Lions. The Whalers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

As for Wheeler, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Wheeler's part, Mason Perkins was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Korbin Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

While New London had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
