Football Game Preview: Richland Springs Coyotes vs. Founders Classical Academy Archers

Two dominant backs in Cohen Ethridge and Connor Stephens are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Richland Springs Coyotes will head out to face off against the Founders Classical Academy Archers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Richland Springs will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Richland Springs' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 69-0 victory over Brookesmith. Considering the Coyotes have won six contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Billy Perry was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 58 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 31 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Ethan Deeds made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Richland Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deeds and Christian McKinnerney. Deeds got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Founders Classical Academy faced Faith Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Archers came up short against the Flames, falling 70-48. The game marked the Archers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Richland Springs will have to contain Beck Sherwood as he made an impact in Founders Classical Academy's last game. He threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 81 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Sherwood has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

Richland Springs' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Founders Classical Academy, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 6-1.
