Softball Recap: Hurley Takes a Loss

Hurley came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Exeter, falling 12-4. The defeat continues a trend for Hurley in their meetings with Exeter: they've now lost three in a row.

Addy Maxwell put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She also put up eight hits, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Maxwell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Young, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Hurley's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Exeter, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Coming up, Hurley will venture away from home to square off against Crane at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Exeter, they will host Golden City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
