Basketball Game Preview: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Valencia Vikings

Golden Valley hasn't had much luck against Valencia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Valley Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Valencia Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Golden Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Saugus and fell 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Grizzlies have suffered against the Centurions since December 10, 2021.

Meanwhile, Valencia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 75-66 to Canyon. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Cowboys are ranked 88th).

Golden Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-7. As for Valencia, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-12.

Golden Valley came up short against Valencia in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 80-69. Can Golden Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
