Baseball Recap: Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls vs. Northwest Knights

Mt. Healthy had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Northwest Knights, falling 12-1. The Fighting Owls were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Northwest, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-8 record. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

For Northwest's part, Zach Havrilla made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Havrilla was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Braden Wisecarver was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Frey, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Coming up, Northwest will head out on the road to face off against Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Healthy will be paying especially close attention to the Knights' contest: after the Knights face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Mt. Healthy again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
