Tom Von grote leads Byron Nelson to victory over Coppell

Recap: Byron Nelson Bobcat vs. Coppell Cowboys

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Byron Nelson Bobcat had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 52-45. The victory was just business as usual for Byron Nelson, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.

Tom Von grote was a one-man wrecking crew for Byron Nelson as he threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Landon Farco was in the mix as well, providing Byron Nelson with three touchdowns.

Coppell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Edward Griffin, who threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns. Griffin hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Grosoli, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Byron Nelson's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Coppell, their loss dropped their record down to 12-1.

Byron Nelson will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Southlake Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on December 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Southlake Carroll is ranked 67th, while Byron Nelson is ranked 55th). Coppell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
