Basketball Recap: Fairwinds Christian Takes a Loss

Fairwinds Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 58-41 to the Calvary Christian Academy LIONS. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-26 back in January.

Despite the loss, Fairwinds Christian still got an impressive performance from Solomon McCloud, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 35 points. That was a full 85.4% of Fairwinds Christian's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Calvary Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JR Gillespie (HS) led the charge by going 6 of 10 en route to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Young, who earned eight points and nine boards.

Fairwinds Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Calvary Christian Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

Fairwinds Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-39 loss against Faith Baptist School on the 31st. Calvary Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 46-29 victory against Concord Christian Academy on the 31st.
