Softball Game Preview: Hendrickson Hawks vs. Victoria East Titans

The Hendrickson Hawks will challenge the Victoria East Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hendrickson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Bastrop get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Bears on their field since March 8, 2022.

Kara Luongo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Shroyer, who went 4-for-5 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Zoey Kellam was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hendrickson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 9-3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Victoria East got the win against Spring Woods on Thursday by a conclusive 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Hendrickson's win bumped their record up to 15-11-1. As for Victoria East, the victory got them back to even at 15-15.
