Softball Recap: Murray Tigers vs. Webster County Trojans
Murray extended their losing streak to 14 on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-17. They came up short against the Webster County Trojans, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.
As for Webster County, their record is now 9-14. Considering they have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Webster County's part, Layla Scott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Scott has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Cartwright, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
