Softball Game Preview: Thunderbird Titans vs. Greenway Demons

For the second straight game, Thunderbird will face off against Greenway. The Titans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Demons at 6:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Thunderbird has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Greenway will arrive with ten straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Thunderbird didn't have quite enough to beat Greenway and fell 8-7.

For Greenway's part, TAYLOR BORUP and Bella Morris did most of the damage at the plate: BORUP went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI, while Morris scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Morris has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Bennett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Greenway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.

Greenway pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Thunderbird, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thunderbird has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
