Soccer Game Preview: Pinecrest vs. Union Pines

The Pinecrest Patriots will head out to challenge the Union Pines Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Union Pines will be up against a hot Pinecrest team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Pinecrest's defense stepped up to hand Hoke County a 3-0 shutout on Friday. Pinecrest's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Jadyn Lamielle and Anna Depenbrock scored all three of Pinecrest's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Union Pines, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Southern Lee 6-2 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.

Pinecrest pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six matchups. As for Union Pines, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-1 record this season.
