Preview: Warren County Wildcats vs. Meridian Mustangs

Warren County is 0-10 against Meridian since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warren County Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Meridian Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Warren County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

Last Friday, things could have been worse for Warren County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Brentsville District.

Meanwhile, Meridian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-23 victory over Fauquier at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Meridian has posted yet this season.

It was another big night for Maureen Tremblay, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Friesen, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.

Warren County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Meridian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Warren County might still be hurting after the 50-25 defeat they got from Meridian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Warren County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
