League recap: Munguia's hitting boosts Edison

County/Metro league recap: 3/8/13

Anthony Munguia was the hottest hitter in County/Metro this week, racking up a .312 average, one home run and seven RBIs. Edison went 1-2.

Top honors in the league this week go to Sanger, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Apaches beat Hanford 9-0, Tulare Union 9-4 and Reedley 11-2.

The Tigers' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 49 hits and 34 walks to lead the league in both categories.

Edison struck out a league-leading 50 times over the past week. The league's worst in that category with 62 strikeouts on the season are the Tigers.

Edison's Khari Mcgee led the league in strikeouts this week with 15. He's second in the league with 15 total strikeouts.



The Tigers' McGee struck out eight Clovis West hitters en route to a 4-3 victory on March 1. He gave up three hits and three runs over five innings of work.
