Baseball Game Preview: Hampden Broncos vs. Messalonskee Eagles

Hampden and Messalonskee are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Broncos will welcome the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Messalonskee took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hampden, who comes in off a win.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Hampden and Skowhegan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Broncos walked away with a 4-1 victory over the River Hawks on Monday. The game was the first time the Broncos have beaten the River Hawks on their field since April 18, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Rogan Lord, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jacob Kelley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Messalonskee didn't have quite enough to beat Bangor on Monday and fell 6-4. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

Messalonskee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dagen Gooding, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hampden now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Messalonskee, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Hampden beat Messalonskee 11-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
