Basketball Recap: Rensselaer Central Bombers vs. Winamac Warriors

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hebron, the Rensselaer Central Bombers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 73-34 victory over Winamac. With that win, Rensselaer Central brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Rensselaer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Corbin Mathew led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. Mathew is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Graham Drone, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Despite the loss, Winamac had strong showings from John Malchow, who scored nine points along with two steals, and William Malchow, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.

Rensselaer Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Winamac, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Rensselaer Central will be playing at home against the Oracles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Delphi Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday. As for Winamac, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blackhawks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Westville will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
