Softball Recap: Pennfield Comes Up Short

Pennfield had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it eight. They lost 15-5 to the Harper Creek Beavers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Beavers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-1 loss last Tuesday.

As for Harper Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

For Harper Creek's part, Aleena Stahlhood made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stahlhood was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Harper Creek let Blair Yurisich and Kaylee Kirkpatrick run wild. Yurisich went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Kirkpatrick went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Halverson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Pennfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-6 win against Kellogg on the 11th. As for Harper Creek, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-8 victory against Marshall on the 12th.
