Softball Recap: Excelsior Charter Comes Up Short

Excelsior Charter lost against Adelanto back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles fell 14-9 to the Saints. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Samantha Minghelli and Alany Esparza did some serious damage despite the final result: Minghelli scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Esparza scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Destinee Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Excelsior Charter now has a losing record of 6-7-1. As for Adelanto, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excelsior Charter will square off against Big Bear at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adelanto, they will challenge Barstow at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aztecs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
