Basketball Recap: Hough Takes a Loss

Hough lost against North Mecklenburg back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hough Huskies were dealt a 78-48 defeat at the hands of the North Mecklenburg Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Slusher, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Slusher has posted since back in February of 2024. Evan Otto was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hough now has a losing record at 8-9. As for North Mecklenburg, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Hough has already played their next game, a 58-47 loss against Chambers on the 28th. As for North Mecklenburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-39 win against Harding University on the 28th.
