Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is De Kalb's 11th in Last 12 Outings

De Kalb's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the New Boston Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaydee Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, De Kalb let TT Ingram and Hayden Mullins run wild. Ingram scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Mullins got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Starrett, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

De Kalb has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for New Boston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13-1 record this season.

De Kalb will square off against Redwater at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bears have won nine straight at home, while the Dragons won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for New Boston, they will face off against Queen City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
