Basketball Recap: Albemarle Comes Up Short

Albemarle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Cheraw Braves and fell 67-40. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 632nd in North Carolina, while the Braves are ranked 203rd in South Carolina).

Leading Cheraw to victory were De'Shaun Drake and Elijah McClain. Drake posted 24 points, while McClain scored 17 points. The dominant performance gave Drake a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Ford, who put up eight points.

Albemarle's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Cheraw, they moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Albemarle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-36 loss against South Stanly on the 7th. As for Cheraw, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-40 defeat against Richmond on the 3rd.
