Football Game Preview: Fayetteville Bulldogs vs. Rogers Mountaineers

Fayetteville has gone 8-1 against Rogers recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Fayetteville has given up an average of 32.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fayetteville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Bentonville West, who was ranked sixth at the time (Fayetteville was ranked ninth). The Bulldogs were outmatched by the Wolverines and fell 48-14. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Loss or not, Fayetteville got some senior leadership from Kaleb Johnson and Catavion Taylor. Johnson gained 149 total yards and a touchdown, while Taylor picked up 141 receiving yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Taylor is now averaging an impressive 103.8 receiving yards per game. Hank Hendrix was another key player, having thrown for 328 yards and onetouchdown.

Meanwhile, Rogers strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Northside 52-12. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-0.

Rogers' win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Fayetteville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Fayetteville came out on top in a nail-biter against Rogers when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 41-38. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
