League recap: Bridgeport leads league with five wins since last week

3A Region II District 9 league recap: 3/13/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Bridgeport, which finished with five wins overall, good for best in the league. The Bulls beat Dallas HSAA North 6-5.

Dillon Aston was the best pitcher in 3A Region II District 9 this week, leading Gainesville. He struck out six batters this week.

Sanger's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 16 hits and three walks to lead the league in both categories.

The Leopards struck out a league-leading 52 times over the past week. Gainesville has struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 107 strikeouts.

Four batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Dewey Dovel, who collected seven hits in ten at bats for a .700 average.

The Leopards' Tag Sparks finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. He is third in the league with 15 hits this year, and has a .395 batting average.



Cain Lowe had a multi-hit game on Friday, when he went 3-for-4 in Paris's 9-6 win against Decatur. He rounded out his day with zero runs batted in and one run scored.

Landon Bond struck out eight in Muenster's 6-3 win over Gainesville on March 8. Over six innings of work, he gave up four hits and six runs.
