Basketball Recap: Ray Comes Up Short

Ray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss. They were beaten by the Corpus Christi Moody Trojans 72-21. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1276th, while the Trojans are ranked 265th).

Shantaye Hazel was her usual excellent self, going 14 of 18 on her way to 31 points along with six boards and six steals for Corpus Christi Moody. Hazel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiyah Taylor, who posted eight points and five assists.

Ray's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.

Ray does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they will challenge Alice at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Alice has won six straight at home, while Corpus Christi Moody won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
