Volleyball Recap: Layla Thimm's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hustisford over Horicon + How To Watch

Hustisford extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9. They lost 3-0 to the Horicon Marshmen. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Marshmen when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layla Thimm, who had 15 digs, two blocks, and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Pieper, who had 21 digs.

As for Horicon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 22, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Horicon found their leader in freshman Leah Holl, who had nine digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Holl. Azelyn Heller also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hustisford is set to take on their familiar foe Dodgeland at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Horicon will challenge rival Wayland Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
