Basketball Recap: Dixie Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Dixie entered their matchup against Hurricane on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dixie Flyers fell just short of the Hurricane Tigers by a score of 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Flyers have suffered since January 9, 2024.

Several Flyers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zed Webber, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Forsey, who posted 14 points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Dixie was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane only racked up eight assists.

Leading Hurricane to victory were Brigham Kemp and RJ Hurst. Kemp scored 15 points and seven steals, while Hurst went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points. Kemp's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Quinn Gubler, who earned seven points.

Dixie's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Hurricane, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Dixie will face off against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dixie is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season. As for Hurricane, they will square off against Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hurricane also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 63.2 points per game.
