Basketball Recap: Hebron Christian Takes Down Trinity Christian in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hebron Christian walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 71-56 win over Trinity Christian on Tuesday. Given Hebron Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Trinity Christian is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Trinity Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mark Hayden, who went 9-for-11 to rack up 22 points. What's more, he also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Micah Steele, who almost dropped a triple-double with nine assists, nine steals, and nine blocks.

Hebron Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. Trinity Christian dropped their record down to 2-22 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road.

Coming up, Hebron Christian will challenge Walker on Saturday. Walker knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Hebron Christian likes a good challenge. Trinity Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
