Gresham is 0-10 against Central Catholic since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Gophers will host the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Gresham will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Central Catholic's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Gresham hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Gophers never let David Douglas get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Gophers have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Despina Seufalemua made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Gresham got a massive performance out of Alyssa Grover, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. La Terra Foster-Frison was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Gresham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Nelson by a score of 10-7 on Wednesday. The game marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season so far.
Jaspen Lauderback-Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 13 hits.
At the plate, Grace Schellinkhout was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Emery Pike, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Gresham pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Central Catholic, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7.
Central Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gresham has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Central Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Gresham's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gresham might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Gophers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
