Baseball Recap: McKean Comes Up Short

McKean had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-6-1 to make it 12. They came up short against the Red Lion Christian Academy Lions, falling 9-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 20-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Red Lion Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2. Considering they have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Red Lion Christian Academy's part, Dom Liguori made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Liguori a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other pitching news, Brayden Redmond looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Lindo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Connor Fitzgerald was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKean will square off against Newark at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archmere Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
