Softball Recap: Harlingen Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harlingen had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Edinburg Bobcats with a sharp 17-4 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Harlingen got a massive performance out of Charlise Ybarra, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Ybarra a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Harlingen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Harlingen is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Edinburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Harlingen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
