Volleyball Recap: Ventura Triumphs

Ventura hadn't done well against Pacifica recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Tritons. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Tritons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ventura had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

Max Mechtenberg paced Ventura's offense, picking up 11 kills. Mechtenberg got some help from Theodore Souther-Pasquarella and his 37 assists. Finally, Troy Dome kept Ventura's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

The victory got Ventura back to even at 8-8. As for Pacifica, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Ventura will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fillmore at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. Pacifica does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
