Preview: Huntington Highlanders vs. Parkersburg South Patriots
The Huntington Highlanders are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Parkersburg South Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Huntington's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Huntington beat South Charleston 57-52.
Huntington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avonte Crawford, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Parkersburg South's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to University 85-81. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (75), Parkersburg South still had to take the loss.
Huntington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Parkersburg South, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Things could have been worse for Huntington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 98-84 loss to Parkersburg South in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Huntington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
