Softball Recap: Blue Mountain Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

While Blue Mountain put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Minersville. The Eagles put the hurt on the Battlin' Miners with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Chloe Brown's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blue Mountain got a big performance out of Carla Boyer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Aryana Reilly was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Blue Mountain pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Minersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Mountain will head out to take on Pottsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimson Tide have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Minersville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Nativity BVM at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
