Baseball Game Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Middlesex Chargers

West Point is 2-8 against Middlesex since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pointers will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. West Point has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Point came up short against Bruton on Monday, falling 11-1. That's two games in a row now that the Pointers have lost by exactly ten runs.

West Point saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Waylon Foster, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

King William hit Middlesex with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Henry Fleet made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Blake Robins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

West Point's record now sits at 1-7. As for Middlesex, their record is now 2-6.

West Point's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Pointers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Middlesex, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will West Point continue to outrun the ball?

West Point might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Middlesex when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Pointers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
