Germantown is 7-0 against Starkville since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Germantown Mavericks will head out to face off against the Starkville Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Germantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Clinton, who was ranked fourth at the time (Germantown was ranked ninth). Germantown's defense stepped up to hand Clinton a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Mavericks were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Starkville's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Tupelo by a score of 2-1.

Germantown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which somehow still isn't as good as their 6-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Starkville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Everything went Germantown's way against Starkville in their previous matchup back in January, as Germantown made off with a 6-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Germantown since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
