Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast was the 43-36 winner over Glen Oaks when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Northeast Vikings were dealt a 59-29 loss at the hands of the Glen Oaks Panthers on Friday. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Braylon Guerin, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds. Guerin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Darius Cavalier was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Glen Oaks, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-32 loss against Episcopal on the 14th. As for Glen Oaks, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-27 defeat against Hamilton Christian on the 14th.
