Softball Recap: Desoto Central Wins Going Away Against Southaven

After only two runs in their last contest, DeSoto Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Southaven on Thursday. The DeSoto Central Jaguars put the hurt on the Southaven Chargers with a sharp 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

DeSoto Central got a massive performance out of Charlotte Mostert, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those hits marked the first that Mostert got this season. Lacey Frey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

DeSoto Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

DeSoto Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Southaven, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSoto Central will head out to challenge Buckhorn at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Buckhorn: 3.1, DeSoto Central: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Southaven will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
