Basketball Game Preview: Searsport Vikings vs. Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners

Searsport is on a five-game streak of home losses, Deer Isle-Stonington a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Searsport Vikings will welcome the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Friday, Searsport had to suffer through a 69-42 loss at the hands of Lee Academy. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Pandas are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, Deer Isle-Stonington was beaten by Sumner 77-17 on Monday.

Searsport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Deer Isle-Stonington, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything came up roses for Searsport against Deer Isle-Stonington in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-25 victory. Will Searsport repeat their success, or does Deer Isle-Stonington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
