Football Recap: Hueneme Comes Up Short

If Hueneme was riding high fresh off their 25-0 takedown of Channel Islands last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings had to suffer through a 46-0 loss at the hands of the Saugus Centurions. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Centurions are ranked 224th).

Saugus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Nuttall, who threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. The dominant performance also gave Nuttall a new career-high in rushing yards (25). Ty Hall was in the mix as well, providing Saugus with two scores.

Hueneme's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Saugus, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Hueneme will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Royal at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Saugus, they will venture away from home to challenge Hart at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. This will be the Centurions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
