Basketball Recap: Dunbar's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Dunbar unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the Kankakee Kays, falling 84-46. While losing is never fun, the Mightymen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Kays are ranked 19th).

Dunbar's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Kankakee, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Dunbar will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Catalyst-Maria at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Kankakee has already played their next matchup, a 76-34 victory against Lindblom on the 28th.
