Basketball Recap: Centennial Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Centennial waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Beechcroft Cougars 72-29. Given the Stars' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Cougars are ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Houston led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. Houston has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last 31 times she's played. Kayla Houston was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine boards.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Centennial's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Beechcroft, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial has already played their next game (against East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Beechcroft has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Whetstone.
