Volleyball Recap: Northwest Whitfield Comes Up Short

Northwest Whitfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sonoraville Phoenix. The Bruins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Phoenix earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Northwest Whitfield came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 26-24, 15-12.

Jenna Quinn paced Northwest Whitfield's offense, picking up eight kills. Quinn got some help from Megan Torbett and her 21 assists. Quinn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Northwest Whitfield's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Sonoraville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Whitfield will square off against Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sonoraville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Cobb Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
