Basketball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Brownsboro Bears

The Athens Hornets will face off against the Brownsboro Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Athens is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Life Waxahachie just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Brownsboro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 67-62 to Kemp. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly five points.

Brownsboro has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Athens was able to grind out a solid win over Brownsboro when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 54-41. Will Athens repeat their success, or does Brownsboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
