Baseball Game Preview: Chariton Chargers vs. Cardinal Comets

The Chariton Chargers will face off against the Cardinal Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Chariton will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

While Chariton's victory against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Rockets on Friday.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cardinal and Albia, and Albia kept the tradition alive. The Comets fell just short of the Blue Demons by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

Chariton pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Chariton skirted past Cardinal 5-4 in their previous matchup on June 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
