Softball Game Preview: Woden Eagles vs. Cushing Bearkats

The Woden Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Cushing Bearkats at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Woden had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pollok Central. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Woden saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cushing didn't have quite enough to beat Chester on Thursday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bearkats have lost by just one run.

Bailey Alexander was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Woden was able to grind out a solid victory over Cushing when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 8-4. Will Woden repeat their success, or does Cushing have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
