Softball Recap: Verona Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Verona faced off against Janesville Craig on Thursday. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-3 win over the Cougars. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Paige Gibbons was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Joanie Dushek also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Verona hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Janesville Craig struck out eight times.

Verona's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Janesville Craig, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Verona is taking a road trip to square off against Wisconsin Lutheran at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Janesville Craig, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Middleton at 5:00 p.m.
